Core Values
1. Heart for the Lost
We exist for the benefit of those who have not yet come and prepare our service with secular people in mind. Everything we do is connected to a soul. A simple form of evangelism everyone can do is: invest and invite. Invest your life into people who don't know Christ and then invite them to church. We are committed to growing a culture of evangelism. (Matt 28, Mark 16)
2. Daily Devotion to God's Word
We read God's Word daily and do what it says in order to be desirably different from the culture around us. It is non-negotiable that every leader have a daily devotion to God's Word. The more complicated our lives and ministries become, the more we must return to the basics. (2 Cor 11:3, Matt 6:11, Acts 6:4)
3. Spirit-filled Prayer & Fasting
It is our culture to fast and pray to seek God's heart and stay on fire while pursuing God's will. We recognize that it is easy to start in the spirit and cross over into the flesh (Acts 15:36-41, 21:10-14, Num 20:10-12), so we continually rely on the Holy Spirit for help and direction. We do this both individually and corporately. (Please refer to our CDs on The Nine Types of Prayer). (Matt 25:1-13, Mk 2:20, Luke 18:1, 21:36, Acts 1:14, 2:1, 4:23-31, 13:1-3, 14:23, 1 Cor 7:5, 9:24-27, 2 Cor 6:5, 11:27)
4. Doing Church As a Team
Doing church as a team is God's design for effective ministry. No one is meant to serve alone. The greater the vision, the greater the team that's required. We are committed to growing a culture of teamwork. (Eccl 4:9-12, Eph 4:11-12).
5. Healing
Supernatural healing fills the Gospel and is the heart of God. The Bible teaches that the devil hurts and Jesus heals. No man-made theory trying to explain away divine healing can alter God's commandment for us to go heal the sick! (Matt 10:8, Mark 16:18, Luke 9:2, 10:9, Acts 3:16, 4:29-30). We teach, preach and experience both salvation and healing on a regular basis. We believe miracles are normal for Christians.
6. Redeeming the Arts & Technology for the Glory of God
We seek to present the Gospel in creative and multisensory ways so people can easily connect with it. God came down to our level through the Person of Jesus Christ. God cares not only about what the message is, but how His message is delivered. God communicates to mankind using not only words, but a rainbow, a burning bush, the handwriting on a wall, a sheet with animals on it, the washing of feet, the breaking of bread, etc. God's style is multisensory. When we highly prize the Gospel, we will never cease to dream of ways to present it better.
7. Biblical Balance
We value studying every book of the Bible over and over again. The sum [entirety] of Thy Word is truth. (Ps 119:160) When we feel strongly about certain portions of the Bible, it is easy to develop a bias or theological slant, picking our favorite teachers and teachings to believe and obey (1 Cor 3:4) while shutting out other teachers and teachings of the Bible (2 Tim 4:13-14, 1 Cor 8:1-2). We recognize that we tend to learn most from people we disagree with. Therefore we do not allow doctrinal differences to become needless division. We recognize that the mark of spiritual maturity is to be able to appreciate viewpoints other than our own, so we choose to keep learning all of the Bible. (Matt 10:40-42, Mark 9:37-40, Rom 14:1-13, 15:1-7, 1 Cor 8:1, 13:2, 2 Tim 2:14, 23-24, Titus 3:9)
8. Loving Relationships
Relationships are the only thing we can take to heaven and the best way of inviting people there, so we do all we can to improve them. We make it a habit to confess 1 Corinthians 13 (the love chapter). We live unselfishly to make others successful. We believe in speaking the truth in love - that means correction may only come through proper relationship, is delivered with a gracious spirit and is only aimed at the success of the other person (2 Sam 12). We are gracious and caring people, not hard driving leaders. We are a safe place to be. (2 Sam 12, John 13:34,1 Cor 13:1-13, Gal 6:1-2, 2 Thes 3:15, James 5:19-20, 1 John 1:7)
9. Serving
We want every person to discover the joy of being a fully contributing member. We are by definition servants. Servanthood means we consider the needs of others as more important than our own. We all serve with an anywhere needed attitude, not an if I feel like it spirit. We are committed to being a servant-hearted, volunteer-driven church. (Matt 25:31-46, 2 Cor 9:6-8, Phil 2:3-9)
10. Faithfulness
The best qualification for promotion is faithfulness over time. An ability to lead or zeal to teach the Bible may be advantageous, but does not necessarily qualify one for promotion. We believe time is the true revealer of a prepared heart and reliable character. (1 Tim 1:12, 2 Tim 2:2, Eph 6:12, Col 4:2, 7, Rev 17:14)
11. Excellence
We believe God is worthy of our very best. We believe excellence makes God's message more attractive, so we do all we can to excel and improve. Excellence extends to the way we treat our bodies, minds, people. (Prov 27:17, Col 3:23-24)
12. Unity
We believe unity is God's will. (Acts 2:1, 2:46, 4:24, Phil 2:2) True unity is based on constant forgiveness and common purpose - sometimes at the cost of giving up our own rights and our own ways of doing things. There is a counterfeit unity based on common complaint. We, therefore, refuse to give audience to a spirit of complaint. We will be courageous to solve every problem in a way that honors God, values relationships, and protects the unity of our church.
13. Humility
We are committed to being evaluated by caring leaders and peers for progress and success. We are teachable and open to honest accountability. (Gal 2:2, Prov 11:14, 19:20)
14. Doing Missions As a Team
Whether our role is to stay by the stuff or go down to the battle (1 Sam 25:13, 30:24), our church has one heart about missions - Jesus commands Christians to go to the nations!
15. Multicultural
We believe diversity is by design and delights God's heart. We will communicate the Gospel in many languages because we are a church for the nations! (Gal 3:28-29, Eph 2:14, Rev 5:9-10)
